“Battlefront II” mostly follows the exploits of an Imperial special forces group called Inferno Squad as it carries out the Emperor’s final order, something called Operation: Cinder. But “Battlefront II” provides what’s probably the first step on Luke’s journey, and ties his search for the first Jedi temple to the series’ ultimate villain: Emperor Palpatine. Why exactly he’s looking for it (we presume it’s something beyond just general curiosity) isn’t clear. Luke apparently went in search of Ahch-To to try to find the first Jedi temple ever built. The 'Battle of Jakku' won't be the only extended universe storyline which features events that took place between Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku. The Battle of Jakku is the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronts key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim. To experience the 'Battle of Jakku' first, you will need to pre-order the game. It will serve as a direct prequel to Star Wars 7, and offers backstory on some of the things we'll see in the movie, expanding this universe even further. How did this happen? DICE and Lucasfilm plan to take players into the 'Battle of Jakku' firsthand with a special addition to Star Wars: Battlefront. Yesterday's Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer opened with an awe-inspiring tracking shot across Jakku, which showcased a crashed Imperial Star Destroyer. And we'll get to learn more about this planet, and one epic, defining battle that happened there, with the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront video game, which will hit stores in time for Christmas to coincide with the release of the new franchise sequel. It is, in fact, a completely different desert planet named Jakku. Abrams revealed that the desert planet we see in the new and original teaser trailer is not Tatooine.
